A Calabar based businessman and his son, have
been shot in Cross River state, after an armed robbery operation in the
victim’s residence which reportedly lasted for more than three hours.
The victims, who reside along the MCC Road in Calabar, were said to be recuperating from the gun wounds they sustained during the attack, The Punch reports.
Adah Igwe, a source close to the family, disclosed that the man owned a filing station around the vicinity.
According to Adah: “The incident happened in the early hours of Thursday, between 1 am and 4 am. The robbers gained access to the building after they had succeeded in disarming the security guard. They first tied up the security guard and seized his phone before they proceeded to the house which shares a perimeter fence with the fuel station.
When they came, they shot through the door and later through the window which they broke and came in through it.”
The source further noted that a stray bullet pierced through the window hitting the son in the leg while the father was shot after the robbers gained entrance through the window.
The victims were later admitted at an undisclosed private clinic where they underwent surgery to extract pellets from their legs.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) John Eluu, when contacted said he was yet to be briefed on the incident.
Meanwhile, two people have reportedly been killed at a branch of Wema Bank in Ibokun, Oriade local government area of Osun state, following a bloody raid by well armed robbers.
The robbers who came armed-to-the-teeth, invaded the bank, killing a guard and a resident of the town.
